The final category in the George Montgomery/NRA Youth Wildlife Art Contest is for the oldest students allowed to enter - those in grades ten through twelve. The technical skill displayed by the artists in this category lends to intense competition and makes the judges decisions all the more tough.

After careful consideration our judges agreed to an order on the pieces they thought were best, which was no easy task. Still undecided was this year's new award, Best in Show, which was decided after putting all the winning entries together to be judged one last time.

In the end, Joanna Garcia's entry, which came first in Category IV, was awarded Best in Show. Congratulations to Joanna for winning the award in its inaugural year. Congratulations as well to the other winners of Category IV.

This year saw a record setting 1,199 entries in the contest and we would like to thank everyone who participated for your excellent entries, because without you there is no contest.

Category IV Winners:

  • 1st Place: Pack of One by Joanna Garcia, Thurmont, Maryland
  • 2nd Place: Elk by Abraham Hunter, Vienna, Illinois
  • 3rd Place: The Wolf by Paul Adelgren, Monument, Colorado
