Thursday welcomes another edition of Curator's Corner Goes to the Movies. National Firearms Museum's (NFM) Senior Curator Phil Schreier and NRANews Executive Producer John Popp strapped themselves in for a peek at firearms from the Johnny Depp vehicle Public Enemy.
Public Enemy chronicles the deeds of America's most notorious public enemy - John Dillinger. And while we weren't able to procure any of the Thompson submachine guns, we were able to lay our hands upon the Colt Model 1903 Pocket Hammerless used by Depp as well as FBI agent Melvin Purvis' (played by Christian Bale) Mauser 98 Sporter.
You might remember a similar Colt from our Phil Noir days, but this is an entirely different piece right of the truck from Hollywood. Both are beautiful examples of the .32 caliber semi-auto. This is, however, Curator's Corner first time for showing off the Mauser Sporter. With a double set of triggers and flat bolt handle, Bale used the rifle to take down Pretty Boy Floyd.
For the full scoop, tune in tonight at 10:20 p.m. for this week's segment of Curator's Corner Goes to the Movies on NRANews.com or on Sirius Patriot channel 144.
