While making our way through SHOT Show's vendor tent on Media Day, I ran into Paige Darden of MyTopo.

"We had an interview in an NRA magazine about ten years ago," she said. "The day after it came out, we received hundred of calls, day and night, for the next few weeks. It was amazing."

What had the phone lines burning? Maps.

I know what you're thinking. Why would maps get people excited enough to call MyTopo around the clock? Because these aren't just any maps. These are customized, top of the line, "navigation-ready map products for professional and recreational topographic map users."

Say you're planing an excursion to a new and remote location. You'll spend money on the latest gear, good food, and all the safety equipment necessary. So why not spend money on the best map possible?

"Our maps are used by search and rescue teams, foresters, first responders, geologists, wildland firefighters, and outdoorsmen," explained Darden. "They are the most accurate and up-to-date maps on the market."

They are waterproof, tearproof, and arrive either rolled or folder per the user's desire. Depending on the package, they can provide you with 3D displays, 1 foot resolutions for most urban areas, up-to-date NGS benchmarks and recovery sheets, and range rings by time and distance. You can even integrate their maps into your Garmin or other GPS devices.

"We have aerial photos of the entire United States over the past two years," Darden said with a smile. "Want a topographical map of your home, the family vacation spot, or favorite hunting grounds, then MyTopo is for you."
