Women On Target coordinator Beth Hellmann was kind enough to share the following article with NRAblog. The trend of Women On Target clinic attendance is increasing, as this California clinic illustrates.

"The January and April 2010 Clinics are completely booked and the July 2010 Clinic is over half booked," clinic director Dexter Haight said. The piece comes to us by way of the Alpine and Mountain Empire Chamber of Commerce:

Women aim for safety, fun at shooting clinic

ALPINE ---- Aloma Richards discovered a new skill at the Lemon Grove Rod & Gun Club range in Alpine.

“I liked the pistol, because it was easier for me to hold,” Richards said. “The first time I shot the pistol I got a bull’s-eye.”

The National Rifle Association’s national “Women on Target” program, the NRA Members Council of Greater San Diego and the Lemon Grove Rod & Gun Club sponsored the event. The co-owner of the Alpine Postal Annex in Alpine was there on Oct. 11 with her two teen-age daughters, Ashley, 17, and Ann Marie, 15, for a “Women on Target” shooting clinic. Under blue skies at the outdoor range, the trio were among almost 30 women who learned how to safely handle and shoot pistols, rifles and shotguns.
