Nicole McMahon: What geographic area do you cover?
Michael Langton: Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Northern NY
NM: When was the start of your career as a NRA field rep?
ML: I started in January 2008. Senior Field Rep for Upper New York, Jay Rusnock, recruited me to the job after serving 15 years on the Southern Tier Friends of NRA committee in Endicott, New York. What really interested me was the interview with Eastern Regional Director, Brian Hyder, for the position of Field Rep for the New England area. The interview was set up in Manchester, New Hampshire, where I was born.
NM: What drew you to the job?
ML: The chance to create more funds for the shooting sports and support the Second Amendment. If I could lead the Southern Tier Friends of NRA to earn more for this crucial cause, could I help lead 25 times that as a field representative? I also get to work with the best of the best... PATRIOTS. We must keep the safe use of firearms in the mainstream.
NM: What is the most unique part about the area you represent?
ML: The people. You do not lead New Englanders - you work with them. They already have a great sense of what is right. The other unique part is the scenic views. Every road takes you by picture scenery.
NM: What would you say is your average traveled miles per year?
ML: Approximately 30,000 miles per year. I make a lot of evening and weekend meetings with the various Friends of NRA committees and clubs and any group willing to listen.
NM: What is the best part of your job?
ML: The best part of my job is the ability to socialize with the best people in America, those who support the Second Amendment and believes in our local, state and national programs.
NM: Is there anything else about your experience you’d like to share?
ML: The best experience I have learned at NRA is THE WORLD IS WHAT YOU MAKE OF IT!
