Returning NPSC Champion Robert Vadasz took a minute to catch up with NRAblog on what has surely been an emotional day. "I feel okay," he said. The 2008 National Police Shooting Champion said he welcomes Hemphill back to the game as a competitor and a friend.
It’s been a pleasure having [Hemphill] around again.
You know, I think Phil has been doing this long enough that it probably wouldn’t matter if he quit for a day or a year. But he's been away from PPC for a while, and even as a nine-time champion, that may be too long; you just never know.
He is by far one of the best shooters I’ve ever seen in any sport … an extremely accurate shooter. I’ve always said Philip’s body doesn’t know how to shoot a lot of 9s; his body forgot how to shoot 9s a long time ago. He’s just been doing it for so long. He goes down there and shoots 10s and xs. Another year or two of not picking up the guns, it’s a little bit of time, we’ll see what happens.
But I’m not big into predictions. I try to match the best of my game to the best days of the match. And if I can make that add up, that's going to be a good day for me. If I end up being beaten by someone else, I’m just going to make them work real hard for it.
Stay tuned to NRAblog for the latest from the 2009 National Police Shooting Championships at Shooting Range Park in beautiful Alberquerque, New Mexico.
