Thanks to Samantha Olsen for sharing the following information with NRAblog:
The 2009 4-H Invitational was held in Grand Island, NE, on June 24-28. The 4-H Invitational is the national event for 4-H shooters from all states to compete. This year’s event featured approximately 490 competitors from 30 states. "As the National Rifle Association’s 2008 National Youth Shooting Sports Ambassador, I attended the event and spoke at the Opening Ceremony. I talked about about what the shooting sports has to offer, as well as the path to becoming an ambassador."
"I ran into a couple of people I knew, 4H kids I shot with on the Virginia teams. I went to the Invitational last year, so I knew what to expect. NRA had a booth, and we passed out brochures and talked to people about the programs NRA makes available to young people. But I was also able to go out to the ranges and mingle."
"This is the first time 4Hers really heard about our Ambassador program, and they were enthused. They wanted to hear a lot more information."
The Brownell's National Youth Shooting Sports Program is a program designed specifically for NRA cooperative youth group partners. Each youth group selects one outstanding young person to represent their youth program with industry leaders.
