“It was an exciting day of competition,” ACUI’s Michelle Smith said. In the slideshow above, Smith hands out awards with assistance from NRA Collegiate Manager Tori Croft.

“In addition to the regulation events, there was a March Madness style event in five stand which put our ‘sweet 16’ top shooters in a head-to-head bracket style shoot-off,” Smith said. “These 16 student athletes rose to the top of 250 competitors with scores ranging from 41 to 47 out of 50 targets.”

“The winner of the made-for-television finals came from Southeastern Illinois College, a small rural school with a specialty program in Shooting Range Management. SIC student Mack Wayne Davis won the competition. Rounding out the top four were Travis Mears of Lindenwood University, Brad Cearlock of Southeastern Illinois College, and Matt Hughes of Lindenwood University.”
