The National Firearms Museum is filled to the brim with a great collection of firearms from years past. This week, they added another.

The Jenks Navy Carbine is the first gun donated from the state of Hawaii. Manufactured in 1848, a thousand were delivered to the Navy in the fall of that year. This particular rifle found its way to the museum via an NRA staff member.

"We received this gun thanks to a NRA staffer, who had a relative in Hawaii," said Senior Curator Doug Wicklund, who was kind enough to show the gun for us. "Meg Guegan, Director of NRA Advancement Communications, helped us to obtain it."

The gun will be placed in the Museum immediately, most likely displayed in the Civil War Carbine area.
