NRA Youth Programs sure hit the bullseye with John Washburn! The 2009 National Youth Shooting Sports Ambassador became interested in shooting sports after joining a local archery club at the age of 8.  Since that time,  he has earned his Rifle Merit Badge John Washburnand become quite a proficient handgunner. When asked if he believed that shooting sports were integral to his organization, John offered the following:

"Answering as a Boy Scout and a Venturing officer, I think the core of Scouting is character and leadership development. Participation in shooting sports is a way for a Scout to learn the discipline of practice, to enjoy healthy competition, to learn important safety skills and good sportsmanship, to teach others, and to explore careers that are related to shooting skills."

John, along with his fellow Ambassadors Matt, Dillon, and Kevin, will be visiting SHOT Show next week. "I expect the most exciting parts of SHOT Show to be the fellowship with people who enjoy shooting, and the opportunity to learn about the latest technologies and developments in shooting sports," John said.

So if you see them at the Show, take a moment to share a little knowledge with these up and coming shooters.
