Brownells CEO Pete Brownell on the mobile set of NRA Guns and Gold at the 2013 SHOT Show

Las Vegas, Nevada - Cast and Crew of NRA's Guns and Gold took over the Brownell's booth yesterday afternoon here at the 2013 SHOT Show. There to shoot a special episode of their top rated Sportsman Channel show, they recruited Brownells CEO Pete Brownell to serve as guest expert of two new guns.

"One of the guns we featured today is going up for auction in support of NRA's Institute for Legislative Action," said National Firearms Director Jim Supica. "The other one is pretty darn cool too."

Colt USMC 1911 pistol at the 2013 SHOT Show in Las Vegas

Las Vegas, Nevada - Sensory overload is a common malady suffered by those who made it out the Las Vegas for the 2013 SHOT Show. Manufacturer after manufacturer showing off their favorites, their customer's favorites and what they hope will be favorites in the near future.

Sometimes, however, you have to reach back into the past if you're going to pull in the eyeballs. Reaching back like Colt and their reproduction of the always favorite Gatling Gun. But it's not always easy as that.

Two Youth Education Summit students taking in the 2013 SHOT Show

NRA Y.E.S. students Molly Smith and Kaytlyn Leonard at the 2013 SHOT Show

Las Vegas, Nevada - One of the great things about SHOT Show is never knowing who you're going to see next. During yesterday's walkabout, for example, I was pleasantly surprised when I happened upon two students from NRA's 2012 Youth Education Summit. None other then Miss Molly Smith and Kaytlyn Leonard.

"The rest of the gang is so jealous that we're at SHOT," Smith told us with a grin. "It's all over Facebook."

Look, up in the sky, it's a bird, it's a plane, it's the NRA Video Screen

Measuring 16 feet in diameter by 6-feet tall, the NRA Video screen can be seen from all corners of the SHOT Show floor.

Las Vegas, Nevada - Just about everything at the SHOT Show is shiny and new. New guns. New gear. New vendors with new press packets and catalogs. New faces in new places.

There are also new booths. That's where manufacturers do their business. To help draw attention to their cause, the booths seem bigger, fancier, and even more elaborate. It's all about attracting more eyeballs and more traffic. And the NRA is no exception.

Remington Rifles on display at the 2013 SHOT Show in Las Vegas

Las Vegas, Nevada - So much to see and so little time.

Images of new rifles, new pistols, the latest camping gear and favorite shooting shooting sports celebrities are just a beginning. The only thing more challenging then pulling yourself away from one booth after another is getting through the crowds clamoring to see the same spectacles as you.

Iowa based Volquartsen provides 1911 shooters with a .22 lower alternative

Shot of Volquartsen Custom's new 1911 pistol lower at the 2013 SHOT Show in Las Vegas, Nevada Las Vegas, Nevada - Hard charging firearm aficionados know the name Volquartsen. But for the rest of the public, they probably didn't know anything about them until Dustin Ellermann made his improbably golf ball shot with a Volquartsen .22 rifle on History Channel's top rated shooting show Top Shot. That's when the rest of you took notice.

Based in Carroll, Iowa, this basement based start-up rose from a custom bluing shop into one of the premier 10/22 manufacturers in the world. But they didn't stop there. They went on to make their mark on the rimfire, .22 pistol and .223 field as well. Recently, however, they decided to concentrate on the pistols.

Outdoor power, lighting and navigation supplier is Friends of NRA title sponsor

Brunton Resync power supple at the 2013 SHOT Show Las Vegas, Nevada - The Brunton Company was one of our first stops during day one of SHOT Show at the Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas. Why there? Because they produce some of the finest hunting and outdoor accessories on the market today. A favorite being from their portable power line.

"Our portable power units (like the Resync) have some serious horsepower," said Brunton Outdoors President Erron Sorrenson. "You can charge your phone several times, your iPad several times, just about anything you need when you're out hunting, camping or even the office."

How's that for easing the pain usually associated with bringing tech into the field? And the best part is, it takes less then an hour to charge the Resync to full power.

"It might take you six hours if you're using solar," Sorrenson stated. "Where some companies are focused solely on solar, we see that as only one way of getting power to the battery. We're all about get power out into the field."

Pete Brownell addresses the Brownell/NRA Youth Shooting Sport Ambassadors at SHOT Show

Las Vegas, Nevada - A few perks come along with being CEO of one of America's top firearm accessories and supplies. Sure, there are the long hours, endless board meetings and the constant pressure to hit financial targets and goals. But on the other side, there's the opportunity to make an impression with the future of America's shooting sports.

For Pete Brownell, that's made possible by sponsoring the NRA's Youth Shooting Sports Ambassador's Program.
