2011 Youth Education Summit student still teaching Eddie Eagle in Florida

Eddie Eagle mixing with Boy Scouts down in Florida Hawthorne, Florida - It's been almost four years since Amanda Krpan arrived at NRA Headquarters to take part in the 2011 Youth Education Summit. Here for a week's worth of Second Amendment education and experience, Krpan left the friendly confines of Fairfax, Virginia with a single mission in mind; keep spreading the word.

Though she's taken part in a number of NRA related activities, she's been especially busy bringing Eddie Eagle's life saving message of “If you see a gun: STOP! Don’t Touch. Leave the Area. Tell an Adult.” to the pre-K through 3rd grade students of Florida.

Here's an update from Krpan on her latest venture with a Cub Scout troop in Hawthrone:

From the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission - Make your New Year’s resolution to take a kid hunting!

By Tony Young, media relations coordinator for the FWC’s Division of Hunting and Game Management

Special Youth Deer Hunting in Ohio The year was 1997, and I was working part-time as a baseball coach at my alma mater, Lincoln High School in Tallahassee. I had the privilege back then of working with so many talented and all-around great kids and was fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to get to know some of these outstanding young men and their parents. Some of these relationships developed into lasting friendships.

One such friendship was cultivated with Mark Hill. Mark was the star of the team that year. He was a 17-year-old, left-handed pitcher who also played first base and outfield. And besides being the ace pitcher, he had one of the best bats on the team and good speed on the bases. Mark was a coach’s dream. Not only was he a super athlete, he was also a great kid. He was very personable, yet humble.

Driver Austin Dillon sporting new paint job for NASCAR race in Florida

Bass Pro Shops NASCAR car at the NRA Annual Meeting in Indianapolis

Daytona Beach, Florida - For those of you planning to take in NASCAR’s Coke Zero 400 this weekend at Daytona, be on the lookout for the #3 car. That’s the Bass Pro Shops’ Chevrolet SS driven by Austin Dillon. And what makes this car so special? The paint job.

With a classic Bass Pro Shops logo prominently displayed upon the hood, a look around the corner reveals a nod to the NRA. More specifically, to the NRA Museums. Appropriate enough given that the Bass Pro Shops in Springfield, Missouri is home to one of those museums.

College students still spends time practicing and promoting lessons she learned at the NRA

Amanda Krpan, 2011 NRA Youth Education Summit Alumna Fairfax, Virginia - There’s something special about the students who attend NRA’s Youth Education Summit. Those who travel across the country, some for the first time, for a week long sojourn into the heart of democracy and the 2nd Amendment. But what happens after they return home? After touring the nation’s capital, meeting with congressional leaders, hearing from NRA experts and trip to the range … what becomes of them?

Some become NRA employees (second paragraph), some become Rhodes Scholars, and some just keep spreading the word.

Enter Amanda Krpan.

2011 YES alumna and junior at the University of Florida, Krpan returns to the NRA to serve as a chaperon for this year’s stable of YESers. While walking her group through the National Firearms Museum, we stopped her for a scoop on her post-YES activities.
