Cleaning and maintaining your firearm means better performance on the range or in the field

NRA Family Insights guide to cleaning your gun The staff from NRA Family Insights sat down to bring you the basics for how to properly clean your firearm ...

How to Clean Your Gun
Can your firearm pass the white-glove test? Here's how to keep your gun clean and safe to use.

Cleaning and maintaining your guns preserves their functionality and value, and keeps them safe and accurate. The effort and attention you put into maintaining your firearms will pay off in peace of mind that your guns will do what you need them to do. Good maintenance habits help you know your gun better, and have more confidence in its performance at the range or in the field.

Once you have the gun disassembled, start with cleaning the bore. The rifling at the muzzle is critical to accuracy. You don’t want the cleaning rod to bang against the muzzle opening. Over time, this can widen the muzzle opening or leave it misshapen, so clean from breech to muzzle whenever possible.

Crosman Corporation To Host USA's LARGEST REGULAR SEASON FIELD TARGET EVENT

Bloomfield, New York - Five years after hosting its first field target competition, Crosman Corporation will welcome 100 competitors in six disciplines at the largest event of its kind in the United States. The Northeast Regional Field Target Championship hosted by Crosman will feature participants from fourteen states and Canada competing July 12 and 13 on the company’s Bloomfield, NY campus.

“What began as a helpful gesture to a shooting club when they were no longer able to host the event has turned into the top open competition in the country for field target,” said Mark DeBoard, Shooting Services Manager for Crosman. “Technically it’s a regional competition but we draw participants from across the U.S. and we have international competitors as well.. This year we have them coming from as far as California and Colorado,” added DeBoard.

9 acres of guns at the NRA Convention in Indy

Indianapolis, Indiana - Day one at the 2014 NRA Annual Meeting was a doozy. Hundreds of thousand of members traveling from across the United States to celebrate a taste of the freedom they hold so dear. And boy were they rewarded. In addition to the hundreds of vendors lining the halls and walkways of the Indiana Convention Center, there were workshops, seminars and a little thing we like to call the NRA Country Jam.

Though there wasn't room for everyone to enjoy everything, that doesn't mean there isn't more fun, informative, and potential lifesaving experiences waiting to be had. Some are more fun than lifesaving, but that doesn't mean one should be pushed aside in favor of the other. We leave that choice up to you.
